KISTI Shakes hands with Presidential Council on IP...

Presidential Council on IP hold its 4th KIPnet conference on Dec. 16th. KIPnet, founded last April, is a national consultative group for IP-related policies. Its main functions include policy proposal of IP creation, IP protection, and IP application, moreover stimulating all related organizations' communication and cooperation. Yoon Jong-yong, chairperson of Presidential Council on IP primarily stressed the importance of human network, that of whom create, protect, and share IP information. Yoon also stressed that enterprises reaching for the global market need to get ahold of strong compatitiveness in IP field. KISTI, along with 100 other related organizations·industrial groups, attended KIPnet and shook hands with Presidential Council on IP at IP·technology Evaluation MOU. On the spot, KISTI agreed to cooperate with KTFC, KIPA, and KIAT on building a market-containable evaluation system, and integration of related evaluation·transaction information. It is highly expected that such mutual cooperation of KISTI, KTFC, KIPA, and KIAT will advance creating a industrial·financial ecosystem, according to Ko Gi-suk, director-general of IP strategy. Above mentioned organizations will: provide evaluation guideline for their users, spread the guideline on both public and private level, create and share the DB system, amplify newer cases, provide open evaluation management and policy support for IP finance revitalization.

2013 Korea-China Tech-Fair was held in Changchun P...

KISTI held 2013 Korea-China Tech-Fair on Sep.9th to 12th in Changchun Province in China in cooperation with Changchun, Jilin and Tumen Provincial Office. This year, about 36 technology tranfer and MoU were concluded in 32 companies during the fair. About 430 companies participated in the fair, 30 companies from Korea and 400 companies from China and other countries each. This Tech-Fair has been organized by KISTI since 2011 to help its ASTI member companies advnace into China and is one of the biggest Tech-Fair between Korea and China. The number of technology transfer and MoU concluded during the fair were 14 in 2011, 26 in 2012 each. Considering the 36 cases concluded this year,technology transfer between Korea and China?is showing upweard trend. Dr.Park?Young-seo?said?"KISTI will do its upmost to help ASTI member companies develop new technologies with all possible resources of KIST and to find?their?clients?and?market?in?China".

KISTI has concluded MoU with NCSTE, which is National Center for Sceience and Technology Evaluation in Kazakhstan on Aug.21 in its head office. This MoU was concluded as a?follow-up for KISTI's visit to NCSTE?on?May.? While visiting NCSTE, KISTI had a chance to?explain the history, deveopment process and outstanding performance of NTIS, an integrated national R&D management system, to NCSTE staff and also learned that NCSTE is in the position of distributing national R&D funds and is in need of establising nation R&D management system. As a result of this?meeting, KISTI and NCSTE both agreed to pursue?mutual cooperation in the field?of national?science and technology managment system. By concluding the MoU.?both sides will seek the way of establishing NTIS system in Kazhkhstan step by step?including feasibility?study.?

Vice Minister of MSIP(Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning) has visited KISTI on Aug.9 to host a meeting with SMEs.?Under the MSIP's vision of?creative economy, SMEs are regarded as a key player for achieving the creative economy. In line with this regard,?Vice Minister of MSIP?invited?some of?ASTI(Association of Science and Technology Information)?member companies to listen their needs and difficulties to?seek the way that government and KISTI?can?do?together. Participantes?were briefed on KISTI's supporting program for SMEs such as field support, 1-1 mentoring service and?supercomputing simulation?program. Lee Sang-mok,?Vice Minister of MSIP has emphasized the?role of SMEs in the Creative Economy which is the core policy objective of new government and promised that MSIP and public institutes will do their utmost to support and help SMEs to be highly competitive and to be reborn as a growth engine of Korean Economy. Global partership for Big Date Research

KISTI has concluded MoU with Universtiry of Hildesheim, University of Paderborn and GESIS in Germany to expand its research on science and technology big data. Based on thsi MoU, KISTI will strengthen its joint research on S&T?big data analysis and application technology and also exchanges of research specialists. Softwear?Research Center of KISTI?and these 3 organizations will cooperate on global research on mutual interesting areas?such as ?text mining of big data analysis and application, semantic web and information analysis ?exchange of researchers and academic journals and other information. KISTI will also ask the University of Hildesheim to join the field training program of UST(University?of Science and Technology)

Field experience in KISTI

Field experience in KISTI

A group of Kongyang University students visited KISTI on July 22nd to experience the research field. This visit was made in line with KISTI's donation program which aims to provide university students with field experience in R&D institutes. The students had a chance to visit KISTI NISN(National Institute of Supercomputing and Networking) and were briefed on supercomputing performance, utilization and research results. After that, KISTI's supercomputing training program was introduced for their application. At the end of the visit, students had a meeting with KISTI researchers working in the supercomputing center for their caree path in future. KISTI has a plan to visit or invite about 10 university students of engineering department to provide them with R&D field experience and with a chance to meet researchers to hear career path for them.

2013?Knowledge donation fair was held in Kintex from July 12th to 14th.About 190 institutes, companies and universites particpated with there research results and products from which students?could experience and learn the theory and process. KISTI?opened the booth displaying?its main research activities including?information?service, analysis and supercomputing infrastructre.?Especially,?3D printing lessen was opened this year to provide the basic?understanding of?3D design and printing process.?Students?participating the lessen could learn and print out his or her design model. KISTI has been activitly?participating in?knowledge?donatoin activities for its social responsibilities as a pubic research institute. Last year, KISTI researchers visited 50 local schools in remote areas from city and gave lectures on science and technology to?encourage students and reduce science knowledge gap between local and city schools.?????

Cooperaton with Uzbekistan

The 1st Uzbek-Korea forum for science and technology was held in Tashkent on July 26th. 3 research staffs particiated in the forum and presented KISTI's overview and its integrated information service porter with document delivery service. Before the forum, KISTI has concluded MoU with CCSTD(Committee for Coordination of Science and Technology Development),which is under the?Cabinet Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This forum and MoU between KISTI and CCSTID resulted from the visit of CCSTD to KISTI last Feb.?When visiting KISTI, the delegation?were briefed on KISTI's information infrastructure and?its information service for industry,academia and reserch institutes and they showed strong intention to?learn the developemtn process of information infrastructure. In line with this regard, KISTI has dispatched 3?staff to participate in the forum?and presented its major research service and concluded MoU to lay the foundation for mutual cooperation in inforamtion collection and its related services.?During the?meeting with CCSTD,?Dr.Choi Ho-nam, a?director of information servcie center agreed to seek the way?of?promoting mutual cooperation. Especially,?KISTI and CCSTI agreed to put priority on?training program for CCSTD staff in KISTI and organization of annual workshop between KSITI and?CCSTD.?
