    International Workshop on Pathway Research

    KISTI hold an international workshop with the title of "Current and Future in Pathway Research" in its head office on July 6th and discussed ways to vitalize international collaboration on interdisciplinary research among biology, medical science, chemistry and computer science. Dr.Junichi Tsujii of Microsoft and Professor, Kousaku Okubo of Japan Biology Information Center and about 10 other distinguished specialists of biotechnology from home and abroad were in attendance at the workshop.

    NTIS, Award for UN Public Service

    NTIS, which is KISTI's representative and innovative service system for national R&D project was given an honarary UN Public Service Award for its excellent and outstanding performance in the field of government knowledge management. The UN Public Service Award has been given to outstanding public policy and regulations since 2003 and has its top authority in the area. NTIS was given the awarded for its contribution in strengthening communication and cooperation between the government and public institutions and in setting up knowledge management policy that could provide government, university, research institute and even general citizens with easy and joint application of national R&D information.

    Opening ceremony for KISTI time capsule

    KISTI hold meaningful ceremony for KISTI time capsule on June 26th at its head office to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. About 600 KISTI staff have written their wishes and put them into the capsule and buried them under the monument which will be opened after 50 years when KISTI will celebrate its 100th anniversay. At the ceremony, KISTI was also bestowed the message of Lee Myung-bak,the President of Korea, which was handwritten including his wishes that KISTI will be the leading institute in science strong Korea.

    KISTI and Kookmin University MOU on Big Data and Collaborative Research

    KISTI shook hands with Kookmin University on June 12th for collaborative research on Big data. By concluding the MoU, Kookmin University is supposed to open the class on Big Data and will utilize KISTI resources such as researchers and information DB. Internship program for students which allow them to study in KISTI during the vacation was also discussed. And also, KISTI and Kookmin University will hold joint seminar on Big Data for studying up-to-dated information and developing collaborative research project between KISTI and Kookmin University.

    KISTI NCSA Joint Laboratory Opening Ceremony

    KISTI held opening ceremony for joint laboratory with NCSA(National Center for Supercomputing Application) on May 22nd at its head office located in Daejeon. KISTI and NCSA are working as a national supercomputing center each in Korea and U.S. NCSA has developed Telnet for the 1st time in the world and is holding world top-class supercomputing research capabilities with Blue Water Supercomputer. KISTI and NCSA will work together to develop core and future technologies for supercomputer by operating joint laboratory. Throught this, Korea is expected to secure world-class supercomputing technologies. The opening of this joint laboratory is the fruits of multiple cooperation that KISTI and NCSA have been working together since 2000. They have concluded MoU?MoA, and conducted research on e-Science research environment, hold joint workshop and etc. More specifically, KISTI and NCSA have developed KNSG(KISTI-NCSA Science Gateway) and proposed research on the prevention of disaster.

    KISTI celebrated its 50th foundation

    KISTI held the 50th anniversary of its foundation on May 18th at Daejeon. Since founded in 1962, KISTI has been leading the builing of national R&D infrastructure in Korea and playing a significant role for Strong Korea with its information dissemination, analaysis and supercomputing resources. In his congratulatory speech, Dr.Kim Chang-kyung,Vic Minister of MEST has complimented KISTI for its devotion and performance in advancing Korea into science and technology strong country. Dr.Park Young-seo,President of KISTI said "KISTI will not save any efforts to lead another 50-year-of S&Tin Korea. After the ceremony, KISTI also held general assembly for KISTI alumni association with 3 former presidents and 40 people who retired KISTI since its foundation.

During the Seminar, KISTI introduced information mentoring program for SMEs that will provide SMEs with 1-1 information service from R&D planning to technology commercialization.

    Dr. Park, KISTI CEO, field visit to SMEs in Kwangju City

    Dr.Park Young-seo and some of KISTI researchers have visited 2 SMEs in Kwangju city on April 18th. Dr.Park's visit to SMEs has been conducting as a follow-up program of KISTI's support for SMEs. Since 2011, Dr.Park has visited about 100 SMEs around the country and has a plan to visit 50 small but strong companies this year. After visiting and learning about the need of SMEs, Dr.Park will designate 1 researcher to 1 company for 1-1 support program. Designated researcher will work and support SMEs as a coordinator between KISTI and SMEs. KISTI now has about 12,000 members of ASTI(Association of Science and Technology Information), which is a kind of consolidated community among industries, academia and research institutes.

    KISTI-DGIST shook hands for S&T infrastructure in local area

    KISTI and DGIST shook hands for supporting S&T infrastructure in local area and raising specialists for science and engineering industry. On.March 27th, Dr.Park Young-seo,President of KISTI and some of KISTI staff including Dr.Lee Sang-gi, a director of Kyungbuk branch office have visited DGIST, which is short of Daegu, Kyungbuk Institute of Science and Technology to conclude MoU for supporting and facilitating S&T infrastructure. DGIST has a vision to be a world-class university for convergence research and has specialized program for emerging materials, information and communication engineering, medical robotics, green energy, brain science. DGIST held 1st matriculation ceremony of Masters' and Doctorate Program in 2011. KISTI and DGIST will work together for fostering specialists in science and engineering by utilizing S&T specialists, resources and information held by both sides. After the ceremony, Dr.Park and KISTI staff had a chance to visit research facilities of DGIST.
